LOVE?

08th March 2024
6:30PM

A screening of the feature-length docudrama with live introduction from Samantha Beckinsale

About this event

Born out of lived experiences and the creative vision of award-winning director and editor Jason Figgis, producers Simon W. Golding and actress Samantha Beckinsale, and composer Scott Buckley, LOVE? is a feature length docudrama depicting coercive control, which is one of the least recognised forms of domestic abuse.

The film is just one voice but represents millions of voices for different victims. Domestic abuse can happen to anyone, be perpetrated by anyone, but nonetheless has common patterns and tactics across the world, so by spreading the message, we can help people recognise the early warning signs.

We will also be joined by the writer and actress Samantha Beckinsale who will give an introductory speech alongside the multi-award-winning family lawyer and domestic abuse advocate Richard Port MBE, family barrister Rachel Bloxwich from 3PB chambers, and Our Family Wizard  who are proud sponsors of this event.

If you would like to gain greater awareness of coercive control and be part of the movement to advocate for domestic abuse victims join us for this event.

Tickets are free but please book in advance.

About this event

We’ve got a little bonus event to finish off BDF 2023 – and what a bonus it is. On Saturday 10th June, Oliver Jeffers will be back on stage to present the 2020 film Here We Are: Notes For Living on Planet Earth based on the book of the same name alongside Director Philip Hunt.

Oliver and Philip first worked together on BAFTA-winning Lost & Found, an adaptation of one of Oliver’s first picture books 15 years ago. After the screening of Here We Are, held at the majestic Giant Screen, we’ll be delving deeper into the relationship between Oliver and Studio AKA and the process of bringing his wonderful picture books to life.

This event will be free to attend, and we encourage families to join us for the screening, which will be roughly 35 minutes. Once the film has finished, there will be a short break, after which we will be sitting down for a Q&A with Oliver and Philip. The Q&A will be aimed at folks looking to learn more about the development process of the film, so may be uninteresting for young children.
