VIP private premiere of the highly anticipated documentary celebrating Birmingham’s incredible cultural legacy.

About this event

Duran Duran, Black Sabbath, ELO, and Steel Pulse are just some of the brilliant bands that have put Birmingham on the musical map over the years. This new documentary shines a light on these and the many other legendary artists that have shaped both our beloved city and the worldwide music scene.

But it’s not music alone that has shaped the city’s incredible pool of talent….

Acclaimed Birmingham authors turned filmmakers D.G. Torrens and Martin Tracey set out to document the stories behind the city’s unforgettable creative moments and its rich tapestry of innovation, from the Industrial Revolution all the way to modern day. Their epic endeavour uncovered untold tales and united an amazing array of local celebrities such as Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, ELO’s Bev Bevan, Dexys Midnight Runners’ Micky Billingham, beloved singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading, soul singer Ruby Turner, legendary comedian Jasper Carrott, local historian Carl Chinn, ground breaking journalists Fred Dinenage and Nick Owen, and footballers from the city’s clubs including Karen Carney, Gary Shaw and Tony Morley.

With the resulting film now complete, get ready to hear Birmingham’s artistic and inspiring history directly from those who made it, and to celebrate the city’s enduring creative legacy.

“Showcasing 60 years of talent straight out of Birmingham’s creative melting pot. Birmingham has witnessed the rise of icons that are much-loved around the world. This film is a collective vision from two Brummie authors with a shared dream.”
D.G. Torrens

“We really wanted to harness and showcase the talent of Birmingham to place it at the forefront of recognition. But what was also really lovely to discover was the selfless Brummie spirit that shone through all of the people who helped us make this series.”
Maritn Tracey
